The title is a line from some lyrics that I'd originally written for this melody, which I conceived but never put to paper some time last year. They felt pretty indignant. But now I'm in a much better situation than when I wrote these lyrics, so it's reflected in the music. It was initially intended to be a protest song.
With Pixel Day 2022 approaching on Newgrounds, I figured I'd at least get the instrumentation and structure down. I'd previously teased this piece on Twitter by sharing two short WIP fragments, and I'm pleased to say that it's as done as it can be right now. As usual, I went for something singable. This track premiered on Newgrounds on 23 January -- the date of Pixel Day on that site each year.
Who knows, the originally intended protest song might make an appearance one day. This tune had me air-drumming to this and wanting to perform this on stage complete with vocals. This piece gave me quite a thrill to compose, and I hope you all enjoy it as well.
Mario Paint NES soundfont exclusively. Took me 4h from start to finish, and I'm surprised I found the time given the huge amounts of change I'm dealing with.
