Originally conceived in March 2022 as part of my 40-day composition challenge for Lent that year. I laid the foundations for a soundtrack to a game I want to see done, and this became one of the character themes.

The lyrics were written separately, to process my own feelings. I am Catholic and LG(B)TQ. The month of June is a solitary one for me because over the centuries, Christians, including Catholics, have been hostile towards LGBTQ persons, and because of this hostility, LGBTQ persons have felt alienated and rejected. There are other reasons, of course, which are no less valid.

But I've always felt a strong connection to my faith. The month of June is both Pride Month, and the month of devotion to the Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe, beats for *all* of us. I have a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart, and to underscore how I feel that Heart beats for all of us, I beat my bodhrán to imitate the heartbeat.

Writing all of this down makes me cry. Writing this song down makes me cry. My friends once told me that if a song or its background makes me cry, then it's a song worth singing, a story worth telling.

So here it is. A very painful, cathartic dive into who I am and what I truly believe: that there is a place in God's kingdom for all of us, and that we have all been fearfully and wonderfully made, mysteries unfolding before the eyes of all around us.
