This track was written for an indie game whose development has been unfortunately stalled, called Song of the Firefly, and was first promoted at Comic Con in London back in October 2015. This Easter, I decided to officially end my Newgrounds fast with the release of this track.
The song was inspired by my fiancé's love for space exploration and astronomy. He often got e-mails from NASA because he was that interested in what was new. But not only did we read books and material about space; we went stargazing together on a number of occasions.
For this song, I imagined two people very special to each other, going out on a clear night and stargazing. At the same time, I pictured people in the International Space Station or thereabouts looking at the earth rising. The series Apollo 13 / From The Earth to the Moon inspired this in part as well, owing to its scenes of the space exploration programme in the 1960s.
The original version of this song was played on BBC Introducing in Lancashire twice in 2016 -- here it is in its full glory!
