Originally submitted for the Westwood ~ The Lost Piano scoring competition in December 2021, and it was an improvisation based on two tracks in an album I previously put up here, "tessarakoste." The two tracks were "running on empty" and "the empty room." It didn't get far, and now nobody can tell me what I can and can't do with this piece of music any longer -- so I'm putting it up here!
I improvised this piece of music on the piano to the timing of a short film for the purposes of the competition, but I also let it spill forth from my heart.
I think of my own mortality a lot. especially with the traumatising things I've endured over the three decades of my life so far. This is me on the piano, trying to stare death in the face, knowing that she will one day take my hand, and I want to see her not as an enemy to be feared, but as a friend I can one day count on when my time comes.
