Prompt number twenty-four, "blue."
This piece, unreleased in all its forms, actually dates back to 2011, and was one of my earliest experiments on FL Studio 9 back in the day. I imagined that it would be a water theme of some sort. I used a very simple progression -- D bassline, Bb bassline, and the chords would be variable from there. It didn't need to go anywhere else, in my mind.
This was before I even knew that FL Studio even had a native soundfont player. Back then, the only sounds I could play about with were DirectWave's default synth pack, the default Papelmedia string soundfont, and FL Keys. That was it. It was clear to me even then that while the idea was good, I didn't have good enough sounds. And so I abandoned the idea for what would be a whole decade.
None of the sounds I used a decade ago are present here. And at the time of the Challenge, I had the advantage of being able to play the keys freely, so the piano felt a lot more natural than when I mouse-clicked it back in the day.
Also now, it feels to me like I'm hazy and breathing in a vat of perfluorocarbon instead, like those stasis tanks in laboratories -- and the reason why I gave the track the name "perfluorocarbon" is simply because one of the colours it usually goes by is light blue.
