Prompt number thirty-six, "destiny." This was written on the Monday of Holy Week, 2021.
When I know something is my destiny, I feel at peace. I would rather spend my days taking that path, than wondering "what if" as dread comes over me — a sentiment I have expressed a good few times previously.
But it doesn't mean that destiny is always a thing to bravely anticipate. The weight of our own destinies can often crush us, and we are left to pick up our own pieces after being broken by it.
I look to the cross as an obvious sign and culmination of the words I wrote in the previous paragraphs. This being written at the near-start of Holy Week made it even more pertinent to me.
This theme actually dates back to 2008, back when I only had a piano and a phone with crappy AMR quality recording to get by. I don't think I ever expanded it to this level back then. It likely also had a different name, and served a different purpose — I originally wrote it as a character theme.
But here it is, expanded and (I think) finished?
